7. Tankers
Tankers are the damage-takers. Their role is to maintain aggro on as many bad
guys as possible so that they don’t attack the weaker teammates. Tankers specialize in various types of defense, mainly resistance. They have extra health compared to other archetypes, and their secondary melee attacks do good damage along with an added taunt component to hold aggro. Tankers are the first to run into the middle of a fight and they are likely the last one standing in a difficult battle.
Tankers have Defense as their primary powerset and Melee as the secondary. As the name implies, Tankers can take a beating. They do very good damage, but not as much as scrappers or blasters. Tankers are easy to play solo, but you will take longer to arrest foes because the damage isn’t that great. On the plus side, tankers can survive heavy attacks and tend to die less.
Tankers are meant to hold aggro in groups and you will probably need to get Taunt as one of your powers. One of the most frequent of your group goals will be to keep the blasters alive by following up on their aggro-gathering attacks.

6.4.2. Group Tactics
Since scrappers are the ultimate solo archetype, sometimes their role in a team is not well-defined. The biggest problem is that scrappers are in the middle of melee combat, but they lack the defenses of a tanker, so when in an 8-man team in a mission setting, they can find themselves taking more aggro than they can handle. If you find yourself in a similar situation, try to take out targets that are not being incapacitated by a controller or taunted by a tanker. By eliminating these rogue threats, you will provide an extra level of protection for the more fragile teammates. Just keep your eyes open and be prepared to switch targets when necessary.
